Description
Air Conditioning Vent for a 2004 Ford Mustang
A cell phone adapter tore apart the factory vents on my Ford Mustang. My wife pulled it out of the car and I figured out that it fit in the car pretty easily, and so I designed a replacement part for it which would be a little more robust.
Printing
Print with the flat side flat. Some supports can be useful, but since all of the bridging is on the hidden side it's not particularly important. Choose a dark PLA, the interior console of the Ford is actually quite dark.
Installation
This may only work for a stock 2004 Ford Mustang.
This Might work for 1999-2003 Ford Mustang. If you need it, give it a shot and comment.
This will not work for any other car or any other year. If Ford used the same dash for similar cars or trucks, it might, but I promise nothing here.
Do not drop or place anything in the AC vent hole during installation or removal. It calls, but please resist.
Pull out the (presumably broken) factory vent in the original Ford. You may need to use pliers. If the slats in the factory vent break, that's ok. Pull out the frame which the slats fall in. There will be a couple pegs on the left and right side. Carefully place the newly printed part over those pegs. The part is a press fit, and should fit in with a small amount of force. If it requires an uncomfortable amount, file down the socket and nubs and try again.
Materials and methods
- Prusa i3 mk3
- PLA Plastic (Annealing is recommended to prevent warping after installation)
