Description
This adjustable pillow block for Thomson Super 8 linear ball bushings can be screwed down from the bearing side of the mounting plate. It is a little smaller than Thomson's own design and the mounting holes are on metric centers at 25mm x 25mm and 40mm x 25 mm. I designed it to use 6-32 screws for adjustment and mounting, but you can change the hole sizes easily for metric screws.
The adjustment screw is used to adjust preload (aka "fitment") of the bearing. The design includes retainer bumps to help center the bearing in the block.
I printed with coex3d MG-94 ABS, 0.2mm layers, 30% fill, no support material, no brim, no raft.
Materials and methods
- your favorite color ABS filament
- 1 Thomson Super 8 ball bushing
- 1 6-32 screw and washer to adjust fitment
- 4 x 6-32 screws and washers to mount the pillow block
