Description

This lantern involves a little bit of everything: laser cutting, 3D printing and simple circuitry.
It utilizes one of them flickering led flame bulbs which can take two double AA batteries wired in series once you've clip the power converter.

Materials and methods

2x sets of battery contacts (negative and positive):

- other sizes may also work
1x LED flame bulb:

- I recommend these from this particular maker because they have the 3 light modes that will still function after clipping the ac dc converter
1x rocker switch:

4x roughly 5" or 130mm 22-24 gauge wires
Optional: 2x sheets of vellum paper - I used an M3 adhesive spray to apply the paper
2x AA batteries

1) 3D print the base and battery cover - no support needed if using the version with support
2) Strip and solder each wire to a battery contact - 2 negatives and two positives
3) Install a set of contacts to each side of the base in the battery slots
4) Remove the bottom of the LED flame bulb and snip off the AC DC converter
5) Solder the LED wires and switch to the battery contacts in series
5) Laser cut the svg files - I recommend using LaserWeb - a free open source cnc program.
You could also use the extrude the svg files by 2.9mm and 3d print them.
6) Cut and glue some vellum paper to the panels - I used the outlines in the svg to get perfect cuts
7) Put it all together - see pictures
