The purpose is to reuse some old, but still useful, laptop batteries. The rest of the case is made of hardboard, reclaimed from picture frame backings and furniture backing. The circuit snaps in place and both the circuit and the holder-face-thing can be reused once the battery is completely useless and sent to recycling.
