Description

Filament clip for 2.85 mm filament that is easy to clip on and off yet is strong enough to keep the filament in place. The clip fits in standard spindles between the walls so that it doesn't tear a plastic cover bag and allows it to fit back in the box it came in.

When the clip ends are stuck together after printing, then place the clip down the way it was printed on a workbench and then tap in a flat screwdriver to snap it loose (see picture).

A printing material with little creep is required, otherwise it will loose clamping force over time (months). For this reason PLA is not suitable for this design.

Usage: First clip the end of the filament in the hole in the middle of the clip and then clip in the previous go around (see picture) and pull it tight.

The FreeCAD source file is included.

PS. The material marking >PC< was manually engraved for reference and is not part of the design.

Materials and methods

Material: PC or PC-ABS (do not use PLA or PETG; they have to much creep)
Print core: 0.4 (or smaller)
Layer height: 0.2 (or less)

Infill: 50% or more
Adhesion: no brim required with heated bed
