Our lab uses Logitech C270 webcams as inexpensive cameras for remote monitoring and "contextual" data collection of experiments involving high-power 1070 nm near-infrared lasers. We mount similarly inexpensive Thorlabs FM01 hot mirrors—dielectric mirror coatings on soda-lime glass substrates, 1" in diameter and 1 mm thick—in front of the webcam sensors to reflect any errant laser light and prevent the sensors from being cooked more or less immediately.
This design attaches lightly to the webcam body with a combination of tension-holding legs and a slot for the webcam's front protrusion. (You'll have to pop off the C270's gray plastic faceplate to use it.) The filter can be freed by depressing the tab on the front.
