This device is designed exclusively for the OnePlus One phone for printing on the Ultimaker line of printers.
For desktop use, the device features easy USB cable routing/engagement/disengagement, audio-enhancing front speaker grilles, and a comfortable viewing angle for both portrait and landscape configurations.
Disengage the cable and the device is a camera grip with an integrated, widely-available 1/4"-20 threaded insert for monopod or tripod mounting. The grip has been designed in the spirit of the excellent Panasonic GH2 mirrorless camera. Special attention has been paid to the ergonomics, which include a finger shelf for control, and an asymmetric grip that fits the curvature of a variety of hand sizes. The speaker grilles provide lower palm grip and thumb retention for enhanced control.
The OnePlus One can be easily engaged/disengaged from the device with the thumb-tab at the top of the phone. All buttons, speakers, microphones, and other functional items are usable with the phone in the device (the Sim card slot is covered by the case). Particular care was taken to ensure that the main and auxiliary echo/noise cancelling microphones are not covered by the case.
For printing, we suggest that the print be arranged with the device in landscape mode on the build platform.
This device is submitted in connection with the Ultimaker/OnePlus design contest. Happy printing!
