I replaced the standard ceramic hotend that shipped with my printrbot metal plus with an e3d v6. It works great. I didn't use a spacer like many have since the original fan shroud didn't work anyway. I made my own fan shroud and I've been using it regularly for weeks without a problem.

I did reload the firmware with the appropriate thermistor type selected but I'm sorry I don't have the hex file anymore. Printrbot does supply their own copy of Arduino IDE to flash the board.

did you update your firmware for the e3d? if so do you still have the hex file i can get a copy of?
