Description
Every stinking time I pulled solder from the spool on my iron stand, the roll of solder flew across the room. Got tired of it this weekend.
This stand came with my -XTRONIC 6040-XTS soldering station, though I've seen the same stand advertised as an Aoyue product.
To use, place the keepers on the each end of the axle, with spool between them. Larger portions of the keepers should be to the inside. Put the axle in the stand, splitting the keepers with the vertical uprights. Hook the left keeper under the bend in the spool holder, and carefully (so you don't split the right keeper) press the circular retaining button into the oval hole in the right side of t he spool holder.
These hold well, but not so tight you can't change a roll.
Materials and methods
I printed with PETG, 20% infill (so they could flex just a little), accidentally printed one without support in the split, and this worked out better than I thought it would. Still, use support in the split and carefully trim it away.
Printed them on their backs to minimize supports. Your intra-layer adhesion is important to the longevity of these parts. Make sure your layers stick together well.
