Description
These combine a carry handle and spool holder for the Solidoodle 3 into a single unit, one left and one right, which makes moving the S3 much simpler. As well, the integral wire guide keeps the cable out of the way of the moving belt and carriage during operation.
I had previously printed gsterley's Solidoodle Spool Holder Mk2 and fredhag's wire guide (both from Thingiverse) but needing to carry my S3 around prompted me to create these with the wire guide included.
Use a section of 3/4" PVC for the spool holder and my tension nuts (seen in the pics) and filament guide.
Fits the Solidoodle 2 if scaled at 0.8 (thanks to a user) and used with 1/2" PVC. The tension nut and filament guide won't fit 1/2", however.
Be sure to rotate the X-axis by 270 to lay the parts down flat. Print with 20% infill, that is all that is needed. If the handles slide once bolted together, use 2-sided foam tape between the handle and frame. The handles should go all the way to the back frame, and the belt guard will keep the wire bundle from traveling into the belt.
