A 3D Printable Grinder that doesn't leave plastic bits in the mix (serious health hazard)
You will need to get the first layer of the grinder file down perfectly for this to work....
Glass is best....
Assemble as per the exploded view, make sure the thin grind plate goes into the mid case, fillet side down!, (first layer side up) Cannot stress this enough to get a good grind, it will also be a tight fit, (for good reason) See Last Print setting for this piece.
MidCase might need sanding slightly on the inner surfaces to ensure a smooth turn, but not too much or it will be loose.
I lubed the outer surface of the top grinder with hemp oil for even easier shredding!
There is also a bowl adaptor to use in place of the base 'catcher' for the pipe fans out there!
Now it dispenses too...
1.5hrs for each file - 20mins Grinder Plate.
Please note you'll need to print base3.9 & LargeParticlePlate on 100% infill.
A note on the operation, be gentle, then firm;
Evenly load the inner grinding plate.
Gently twist counter clock-wise first, applying a small amount of pressure to get it going,
Then use a smidge more force, but keep the rotation speed moderate. Love your buds, don't crush them ;) x
Happy Slicing!
Materials and methods
3D PRINTING SETTINGS
TopGrind, MidCase & BowlAdapt2 =
Shells x3 (1.2mm)
Top/bottom x5 layers - 16%infill
For the Base.stl go with 2xshells on 100% infill (not something I'd ever recommend)
LargeParticlePlate needs to be 3xshells & 100% for durability.
TO FINISH: MidCase might need sanding very slightly (don't over do it) on the inner surfaces to ensure a smooth turn,
Lube top grinder with hemp oil for even easier shredding!

Comments

- Printed on:
- Wanhao Duplicator i3
- Result:
- Bamboo from ColorFabb & Ebony from FormFutura. The black case needed some sanding & polishing, then lubing with hemp oil to get a good turn. The black wood expanded quite a bit when printing, which was not solved by altering the extrusion multiplier, sad face.
