Lots of other designs i did not like.


Very flexible for filament spools with different widths and core diameters. For filament spools with a core diameter from 50 to 56 mm. This should fit most of the spools.
The shaft is 145 mm long. But thin spools down to 16 mm width can be mounted as well by turning around one of the cone nuts.

Strong 12 mm threaded rod. Strong enough for big 2.3 kg filament spools 53 x 300 x 123mm.

The single side mount makes changing a spool very fast. The thread on the hollow shaft has a pitch of 10 mm, so only few rotations of the cone nut are necessary to fix the spool. Since two cone nuts are used you can easily center the spool if you want to.

You will need:
A threaded rod with 12 mm diameter (M12)
Four nuts M12 and maybe two washers M12
Two ball bearings 12 x 35 x 10 mm

Materials and methods

PLA at 0.3mm layer height will do the job.
Everything is printed upright and the thread angle is 45Β°, so no support is required.

The single side mount requires a solid construction made from wood oder metal.
