Description
For this week's project, we designed and 3D printed a simple case for Circuit Playground. This bumper and 2-piece strap turns Circuit Playground into a wearable. 3D printed in Ninjaflex filament, the strap is printed flat and wraps nicely around your wrist (or leg?). The bumper bites on the edge of the PCB and holds it in place. On the bottom of the bumper are two slots, where the strap can be inserted into. The straps themselves have extensions on the end, which acts as end stoppers. The two straps snap fit together via holes and a little nub. It's a really simple design and relatively easy to 3D print (as long as you print SLOWLY - 30mm/s).
While designing the bumper and strap in Autodesk Fusion 360, we decided to try out User Parameters - These are special parameters that allow you to quickly and easily update a values. So, instead of editing a sketch and modifying dimensions, you can open up the user Parameters dialog box and input a width or length of the strap. We also added number of holes, and the distance of them. There's lots of other User Parameters we could add (like the overall diameter of the bumper) so we put together a Layer by Layer tutorial to show you how easy it is to setup.
