@Bearwood in theory yes, but my Z axis precision is 0.01mm. 360 / 1.8 (angle/step) = 200 steps to move around. In one cycle Z axis moves 2mm. 2mm/200=0.01mm My biggest concern using this type of axis was what weight this axis is capable to move. I just did a test with 2.6kg moving up and I didn't have any issues. If you have z-wobble it could be solved making Z axis loossly coupled to the bed like in MendelMax design (check page 42 https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xkqIbNjqopCkrOkwJX_i-BKoRBu3syexM9-6eJNrW8o/edit). I didn't see any visible wobble, but I'll check later with micrometer. Tomorrow I'm leaving for my one month vacation, so I'll update with my status in April.
