This print represents the time it takes life to form and reform in a never ending process. While different in many ways, the materials that make the two shells are in effect the same thing - sunlight.
The ABS on top was originally created with"ancient sunlight", lifeforms turned to fossil fuels after millions of years of pressure under the Earth . The Cherry Wood bottom was grown using more recent sunlight, most likely shared by ourselves at some point in our lives.
Life doesn't so much die as it does change form, sometime in the most beautiful and unexpected ways
Name: "Age of Life"
(Top: Black ABS
Bottom: Cherry Wood)
This piece acknowledges the time it takes for life to run it's course. The two materials
themselves have significantly different properties, but are in effect the same thing - sunlight.
For the ABS, the sunlight was ancient, pressed into fossil fuel over epochs and has been and made into plastic. The Cherry Wood tree the bottom is made from was grown from sunlight most likely experienced by ourselves at some point in our lifetime. Life may end, but it can be resurrected in the most beautiful of ways.
