@imaginables, I have printed, painted and assembled it but have had two error messages from Youmagine while trying to upload a picture!

@imaginables I mirrored the leg in Cura but I am not using Cura to slice it and the other slicer didn't like the result at all (Netfabb showed that all of the surfaces were badly orientated! I mirrored it in Netfabb and not a problem. Fixing the file in Netfabb causes more problems than it fixes and it prints fine without being fixed.

Ok cool - I hadn't thought of that! I am printing it at 50% scale and will post pictures once it is done although it will need painting first!

Is it just me not sleeping properly or are both leg files (left and right) the same?

The guide is in the documents - second file down, it is a pdf.

For the LEDs, I went online and found a string of 10 blue LEDs that were battery powered (using 2 x AA batteries). There isn't anything special about them. The first photo in the assembly instructions pretty much tells you all you need to know. I removed the switch and battery connectors from the battery casing for them and installed them into the Matrix, there are photos showing where they go in the assembly instructions.

I have uploaded an assembly guide with photos, let me know if anything isn't clear and I'll modify it.

The fittings are all tight (for the red "nubbin" we had to use a hammer to get it in), this is so no glue is required. For the crystal, it has flat edges that can just slide past the flat edges of the frontball, it needs a bit of a twist to get it in. The partition clips also go into the front ball (these are tight and there is a knack to getting them in without breaking them), the clip part of them needs to be sticking out to clip into the battery pack part but before putting them in, put the LEDs in and feed excess wire into the cavity of the battery pack part. We have made a few of these and they fit together well - the arms can be clipped over the body and should hold in place reasonably well without glue - in our shop we have one to show customers and usually pick it up by one of the arms and rotate it freely. We haven't seen anyone else's make of one yet so please upload a pic when you have it together and don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

I printed a smaller version of this originally and found that large diameter spools just touched the bottom. This wasn't a problem for me but someone mentioned that they had a spool with kinks and tangles that struggled with it. They also had a Printrbot spool which is wider. This design is wider and taller than the original design to compensate for that but shouldn't be a problem as the longest dimension is front to back at 146mm. I printed this on a Replicator 2 as I'm still trying to find the time to set up my Printrbots properly.

All files are now uploaded :) I forgot to mention in the description that it is designed for AA batteries.
