Description

Like the petals of a flower, this floret pentagonal tiling brings Springtime into our geometry. During Easter, at the crack of Spring, the tiles rearrange and morph into cracked eggs specifically for you to store chocolate eggs inside, giving a fresh, sweet aroma of recursion.

The tiling is visualized in various ways and is visible on the inside walls as well. The opening is designed for printing without supports.

Materials and methods

PLA

The eggs print at their original size at 0.15 mm layer height without supports or infill. Just make sure to have enough perimeters to avoid holes in sloping sections. Three perimeters are enough for a 0.45 mm line width. If using PrusaSlicer, uncheck the “Ensure vertical shell thickness” option (visible in Advanced Mode under Print Settings > Quality) to avoid spurious infill that affects overhanging surface quality. The big version shown is printed at 150% its original size at 0.2 mm layer height.
