Description

What is it?

This is a soldering iron stand customization to use a ball bearing (random 7mm by 20mm diameter), instead of original washer. Original awesome design by bbzed.

Model includes files for base stand, the original washer head and the modified ball bearing head. Also included are two optional nozzle cleaner holders.

How to modify it yourself

The original model is very modifiable; I did the modification in OpenSCAD (.scad file included in the design). Just import the holder.stl, offset it up to nice level, cut off the end and add your own.

Materials and methods

- Find either a bearing (8mm by diameter 20mm) or a washer (2mm by diameter 22mm) from your local hardware store.
- Nozzle cleaners may be available at your local electronics store.
- Print the base stand and holder if your choice, with optional cleaner. I used PLA, but any material should suffice. Hot parts of the soldering iron do not connect to the plastic.
