Description
Ender 3 V2 printers with board version 4.2.2 are VERY prone to layer shifting due to overheating stepper drivers. Creality has yet to comment on this or offer any warranty service to remedy this problem.
A quick bandaid fix is to increase the cooling on the drivers. This is my solution.
Remove the bottom cover from the board enclosure (and disconnect the tiny fan attached to it), screw a 120mm fan to the duct, snap it to the side of the printer. It's not perfect by any means, but it seems to do the job well enough. I'm 9 hours in to a 17 hour print right now and everything is going well so far after installing this mod!
If you get a 24v fan, you can power it off the ender's power supply, but i used a 12v fan so I've got it attached to a wallwart and plugged in separately.
Materials and methods
I printed at .24mm layer height with no problems.
**Can be printed with no supports**
You will need 2 - 4 small screws to mount the fan to the duct.
